9

Watch Trailer:

The "9" Trailer is now online. I worked with Shane Acker on this film about a year ago. The CG feature is based roughly on his short film of the same name.

Happy Holidays =]

A few from the sketchbook

Rules

Pardon me for the extended Hiatus. I would feel obliged to make some sort of excuse, but alas, that would assume anyone really cared.

So here's a painting I did for practice, and eventually gave to my sister. In my character design work, I don't get to experiment with BG, props, and Color too often. So these watercolors are a fun exercises.

As a painter, I am still very much a student, and am not ashamed to admit that I "borrow" from artists that inspire me. In this case, the victim was Norman Rockwell. . . which begs the question "why do I even try?"

Unnatural Guide

Here are a couple of paintings that I did some years ago for a Texas author who was trying to get a humorous travel guide published. The book was actually very funny, but I don't believe he had any success.

The paintings are in watercolor & prismacolor.

Valiant

A few years ago I worked on the CG Pigeon film, "Valiant" at Vanguard Animation. I really enjoyed working with some of the industry's senior designers, and learned a lot. Here are some pigeons. . .

Herman Sketches

These are my first roughs for a key character in a show that I am developing. I don't mind posting them because I trust all of you honorable and beautiful little blogger friends. . . not to mention that final design is quite a bit removed from any of these. I'll say no more.

Drawn Together . . .

Here are some designs from my tenure on "Drawn Together." This was a fun show to design for because it parodied so many cartoon styles. You should recognize a few.

Alien Band 3

. . . another member of the band. Same "more human" note, so I show the stages here.

Alien Band 2

. . . the Milla Jovovich stage of development.

Alien Band 1

Here are some designs of an Alien Band, for the same studio as the "DarKastle" job (below). . . the very cool S78 Studios. Their Client kept asking for "more human," to the point where I was asked to just caricature Milla Jovovich from the 5th Element. ANyway, here are two of the characters.

LUDWIG 2

. . . the dog faced monster.

LUDWIG 1

These are some designs I did for the lead character, Ludwig of "Curse of the DarKastle," a Ride Film at Busch Gardens. Shown are the three stages of his transformation into a werewolf. . . (more of a "Were-labrador" in the end.)

"Andy M." Sketch Page 3

. . .p.3

"Andy M." Sketch Page 2

. . . p.2

"Andy M." Sketch Page 1

Here are some characters that from my design sketchbook, for another project.

Captain Connor 2

. . . and a few more for Cpt. Connor Development.

Captain Connor 1

Here are some sketches for a Children's Story that my very talented wife wrote staring my nephew Connor.

Neftali 2

Here is another study I did of my pal Neftali.

Foothooker

"Foothooker" was some band on a reality show produced by "Just Shoot Me's" Steve Levitan. He hired me to design a short animation of the band members for some Japanese cartoon, I don't know what ever happened to it or the band.

Neftali

Neftali is one of the kind parking attendants here at Fox TV Anim. He is a good bro.

Hank the Tank

This is a color comp. for a watercolor that I am doing for my baby nephew Henry.
